Democracy, its importance and our local communities as democratic societies
This handbook is based on the Learning, Teaching, Training Activity (LTTA) "Democracy, Its Importance an Our Local Communities as Democratic Societies," organized as part of the project "Do you know Your Democracy".
The LTTA was based on non-formal education and learning-by-doing methods. The activity provided participants with opportunities to shape their own learning expectations and outcomes while exploring their personal limits and potentials. It focused on enhancing the competencies of youth workers, educators, and teachers in topics such as democracy, grassroots activism, and democratic values.
The handbook provides clear, step-by-step guidance for creating successful educational activities, enhanced with practical examples from youth work practice.
The handbook is developed in the form of 10 educational workshops that were tackled during the LTTA activity and improved based on the feedback from youth workers. Additionally, sessions on introduction, team-building, and evaluation of educational activities are included to assist trainers in implementing these sessions in various learning environments, whether international or local.
This material will serve as a valuable resource for youth workers, educators, and teachers. It can be a starting point for developing new projects and ideas or a tool for organizing educational sessions on democracy and democratic engagement.
